Many fairy tales are about bewitchment, where people are compelled to live in a way that is not human. They may take on the form of an animal, beast, or bird, or simply spend their time asleep to life. These tales also describe what it takes to become human again. How can we understand the frequency of this motif and the ensuing drama if we approach these tales from a Jungian point of view? How do these tales enrich our understanding of ourselves?
